Your Story. Our FIGHT.
Marin County Sexual Abuse, Personal Injury & Wrongful Death Lawyer
Trial-Ready Representation for People Taking on Powerful Opponents.
When you have been seriously injured, abused, or wronged at work, the other side often has a head start: insurers, institutions, and corporations with lawyers whose job is to minimize what happened. Wear Trial Law was built for people who need more than a case manager or a settlement mill. You work directly with Michael Wear, a former Special Victims Unit prosecutor and career trial lawyer, from the first call to the final resolution.
Led by Michael Wear, a former felony prosecutor and Special Victims Unit trial lawyer, the firm provides direct, personal, trial-ready representation for clients across Marin County and the greater Bay Area.
Insurance companies, institutions, government agencies, and corporations often have teams of lawyers working to minimize what happened or avoid accountability altogether.

Michael represents survivors of sexual and institutional abuse, victims of serious personal injury, families facing wrongful death, and elders harmed by abuse or neglect in care facilities. Every client works directly with him from the first conversation through the final resolution.
One Lawyer. Your Lawyer.
No intake teams, no hand-offs to a junior associate. The lawyer who hears your story is the lawyer who builds your case and stands next to you at trial.
Michael spent more than 15 years as a felony prosecutor, including years on the Special Victims Unit felony trial team. He knows how to investigate, how to prepare a case for a jury, and how to confront the tactics used to discredit people who have already been harmed. Defendants and insurers know the difference between lawyers who settle and lawyers who try cases.
Telling your story is hard. Michael has spent his career listening to survivors and victims during the hardest moments of their lives and building cases around their accounts with care and clarity. You set the pace.
Urgent inquiries are prioritized. You will get plain-language explanations, timely updates, and a direct line to Michael, not a call center.
Injury, abuse, and wrongful death cases are handled on a contingency fee. You pay no attorney's fee unless there is a recovery, and how case costs are handled is explained in writing before you sign anything. The free consultation carries no obligation.

Not Sure Whether You Have a Case?
You do not need to know the legal terms. You do not need every document ready. You do not need to be certain about what comes next.
Tell Michael what happened. He will listen, explain your options in plain language, and help you understand whether you may have a case, or point you toward the right resource if he is not the right fit.
A Former Special Victims Unit Prosecutor, Now Fighting for Survivors and Injury Victims.
Michael Wear is a career trial lawyer. Before founding Wear Trial Law, he spent more than 15 years as a Marin County felony prosecutor. As a trial attorney on the Special Victims Unit felony trial team, he prosecuted rape, child molestation, child exploitation, elder abuse, and hate crimes, presenting the accounts of vulnerable victims to juries and holding their abusers accountable.
That work shaped how he represents clients today. Survivors and victims need more than a lawyer who says the right things. They need someone who understands how difficult it is to tell the story, how trauma affects memory and trust, and how well-funded defendants try to shift blame or bury responsibility.
Michael also served as Felony Team Coordinator and as head of the Consumer Protection Department, where he took on large corporations on behalf of the public. He understands how institutions defend themselves and how to build cases that force accountability.
Wear Trial Law is intentionally personal. Michael does not run a high-volume practice where clients are handed off to intake staff or junior lawyers. His model is simple: one lawyer, your lawyer.
You Have Questions, We Have Answers
Injury, abuse, and wrongful death cases are handled on a contingency fee, meaning attorney’s fees are paid only as a percentage of what is recovered. If there is no recovery, you owe no attorney’s fee. How case costs are handled is explained in writing before you sign anything. The initial consultation is free. Fee arrangements for employment matters are discussed during the consultation.
It depends on when the abuse occurred and how old you were. California has significantly extended the deadlines for childhood sexual abuse claims, and some adult survivors also have longer windows than they expect. Do not assume it is too late. Contact Michael and he will assess your timeline.
Consultations are confidential and protected by attorney-client privilege. If a case is filed, there are procedures available to protect a survivor’s identity in court records. Michael will walk you through your options before anything is filed.
Most cases resolve before trial, but the strongest settlements come from cases that are prepared as though they will be tried. Every case at Wear Trial Law is built for the courtroom from day one. If trial is the right path, Michael will be the one trying it.
Yes. Wear Trial Law represents clients in Marin, Sonoma, San Francisco, Alameda, and Solano Counties, and considers other California matters case by case.
That is exactly what the consultation is for. Many people wait because they are unsure whether what happened is “enough.” Tell Michael what happened and let him evaluate it.
The Hardest Part Is Often the First Call.
Many people wait to call a lawyer because they are not sure what happened is serious enough. Others are afraid they will not be believed, worried about their privacy, or concerned that the legal process will make a painful situation worse.
Those concerns are real. At Wear Trial Law, the first conversation is not about pressure. It is about understanding. Michael will take the time to hear what happened, answer your questions, and explain what comes next in plain language. You decide whether to move forward.
Whether you are recovering from a serious injury, processing abuse, grieving a loss, or trying to understand whether your rights were violated, you deserve to be heard by someone who knows how much this matters.
You do not have to take on an insurer, an institution, or a corporation alone.
Insurance companies, institutions, government agencies, and corporations often have teams of lawyers working to minimize what happened or avoid accountability altogether.
