What happens when you reach out

You will speak with Michael Wear, not an intake screener working from a script. The first conversation typically takes twenty to forty minutes and covers what happened in general terms, what deadline applies, and what your realistic options are — including the option of doing nothing, or of working with a different firm better suited to your case.

Nothing is filed, and no institution, employer, or family member is contacted, without your decision.

If you are a survivor of abuse

You do not need to describe the abuse in detail to make this call. Approximate timeframe, the institution involved, and whether you told anyone is enough to start. You can bring someone with you. You can ask questions in writing instead of speaking. Tell us what you need.

If you are calling about a parent in a care facility

Bring what you have — the admission agreement, care plan, incident reports, photographs, and the facility’s own explanation. If your parent is currently unsafe, contact the facility administrator and your county’s Adult Protective Services first, then call us.

If there is a deadline approaching

Say so at the start of the call. Government-entity claims, revival-window claims, and employment claims all carry deadlines that can expire quickly, and those calls are prioritized.
